Why I am running.
I have spent my career saving schools and colleges that were moving toward closure. I have the experience, ambition and most importantly, with my own children in the school district, the heart to move our district forward.
As a Pasadena Unified School District board member I want to make changes now that will positively impact our children’s educational future and ensure the best educational options and outcomes for years to come.
Families need to feel confident they are sending their children to the best schools, whether they are attending elementary, middle school, or high school. We have the right to receive a high quality public education, and I believe it is in our power to make it happen.
Meet Crystal.
Crystal Czubernat lives in Sierra Madre with her wife Candice and their girl-boy twins, Dylan and Deacon, who will enter first grade this fall at Sierra Madre Elementary School. Crystal has spent nearly twenty years working in education, both as a teacher and then an administrator. She has a Bachelors in Secondary Education, Masters in Counseling, another Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and is working toward completing a Ph.D in Organizational Leadership.
In her free time, Crystal and her active family love to snow and water ski, take advantage of the local hiking trails, and cruise around Sierra Madre on their bikes. As a mom of two kids who will be PUSD students throughout their primary and secondary education, Crystal is dedicated to making sure our schools not only succeed, but are prepared to meet the challenges of an uncertain future.

As a Pasadena Unified School District Board member, Crystal will devote her time to listening to the ideas and concerns of teachers, administrators and families, as they are the closest to the issues at hand.

The next four years will be filled with truly unprecedented challenges. As we face reentering schools during and after the Covid-19 crisis, and managing a drastic budget deficit, we need a leader like Crystal Czubernat who is innovative, creative, and driven to ensure the PUSD community not only survives, but meets the needs of all students, and is prepared to face the future.

In an age of drastic budget cuts and public health crises, Crystal will contribute fresh ideas and energy to the School Board and pursue innovative solutions to the problems we face.
